Protests have been held outside the Duke Energy headquarters twice this year over the company’s use of carbon producing coal, with 44 people arrested at one demonstration.
More protestors are predicted in uptown Charlotte on Friday pushing for cleaner energy and an end to coal-fired power plants.
Friday’s protest is set for the Charlotte Convention Center, where the COAL-GEN Conference is being hosted by Duke Energy.
Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers has informed that he plans to make the company carbon free, but it will take at least 40 years and cost in the billions of dollars.
