AT&T Inc. T, AT&T job offers to S.A.
AT&T Inc.
AT&T announced this morning at 9 am news conference the creation of roughly 200 high-tech call center jobs through a partnership with the city and Alamo Colleges aimed at developing a pool of skilled workers the company can readily tap for expansion in San Antonio. This will be the first for U-verse AT&T call center in San Antonio. It will be located at the company's building at Broadway and Hildebrand. The news marks new ground for the telecommunications giant on two fronts: It's the company's first expansion of operations in the Alamo City since moving headquarters to Dallas last year, and it's the first time, company officials say, that AT&T has collaborated with leaders in a community to establish a work force development program.
AT&T figures out to start hiring in early 2010 and expects the call center to open in March. “The goal is to create a pipeline of opportunity for employees and a pipeline of talent for AT&T,” Mayor Julián Castro said. “We look forward to working on even bigger things with AT&T in the future.” Most of the new employees will train three to five weeks at the Alamo Colleges in a course customized to AT&T's technical support functions.
