TeleCommunication Systems (TSYS) Part of $10 Billion DoD Award

QualityStocks would like to highlight TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in high availability and secure mobile communication technology, serving a wide range of commercial and government markets. Commercial markets include wireless operators, cable MSOs, VoIP service providers, and telematics and navigation vendors. Government customers include agencies of the Departments of Defense (DoD) and Homeland Security, as well as state and local government entities.

In the company’s news yesterday,

TeleCommunication Systems announced that it has been named one of the twenty awardees under the Global Tactical Advanced Communication Systems and Services (GTACS) contract, which is a multiple-awardee, Indefinite Delivery – Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) vehicle from the Department of Defense. It has an estimated ceiling of $10 billion over a five year period, which will allow DoD agencies to purchase TeleCommunication’s satellite and support systems.

Based in Annapolis, MD, TeleCommunication Systems is focused on the development of mobile communication technology, with components in E9-1-1, text messaging, commercial location, and deployable wireless communications. The company is also involved in cloud computing, wireless applications for navigation, hyper-local search, asset tracking, social applications, and telematics. The company has clients in government agencies utilizing TeleCommunication cyber security expertise, professional services, and highly secure deployable satellite solutions for mission-critical communications.

Under the terms of the contract, DoD agencies are able to purchase TeleCommunication’s products and services for the Warfighter Tactical Communications Systems and Service through the Department of the Army, Assistant Secretary for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology, Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications-Tactical, Special Projects Office, Northeast Regional Response Center.

TeleCommunication senior VP and General Manager of Government Solutions, Michael Bristol said, “This is very exciting news for TCS. This contract is the successor to the World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle. WWSS transformed TCS into a major defense integrator of deployable C4ISR communication systems. GTACS has twice the ceiling of WWSS and an expanded scope of work. This award gives DoD agencies the opportunity to purchase TCS’ TotalCom solutions, consisting of deployable SATCOM and baseband equipment, as well as field support staff and other related services in order to strengthen their vital mission of protecting our nation. TCS looks forward to supplying our current and new DoD customers for the next five years via this contract.”
