In the latest entry of his Stock Strategies Blog, “No Break-Out or Fake-Out Yet”, Richard Suttmeier analyzes the frustration behind the lack of break-out or fake-out, specifically the lack of decisive breakout in spite of the new highs for the Dow, S&P 500 and the NASDAQ. Further, copper and crude oil do not display any clear signals, depite the new dollar low.

 

While copper and crude oil have managed to maintain a moving average, they must get above their 200-week averages to prevent making a mockery of the global growth story. Fed minutes show Fed’s concerns-most FOMC members are concerned that labor remains weak. The NBER will not time stamp the end of Recession until labor conditions improve, and Suttmeier suggests that Americans adjust to a lower standard of living.
