Equity Residential (NYSE:EQR) reported funds from operations of 53 cents a share, down from 64 cents a share a year ago. Revenue fell to $1.48 billion from $1.49 billion. Earnings dropped to 48 cents a share from 63 cents a year earlier due to lower gains from property sales and lower property net operating income. For the fourth quarter, Equity Residential is looking for funds from operations in a range of 49 cents to 53 cents a share.
BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. (NASDAQ:BMRN) reports Q3 EPS of $0.13, 12 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.01. Revenue for the quarter was $80.8 million, which compares to the estimate of $82 million. BioMarin lowers FY09 revenue view to $313-$327 million, versus $324.8 million consensus.
Express Scripts, Inc. (NASDAQ:ESRX) reported third-quarter net income of $197.6 million, or 71 cents a share, compared with $201.9 million, or 81 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. Reporting after the close, sales for the St. Louis-based provider of pharmacy management services were $5.62 billion compared with the $5.45 billion reported a year ago. The company said it had two non-recurring charges, without which earnings would have been 99 cents a share. Analysts polled by FactSet Research had expected the company to earn 82 cents a share for the quarter, on sales of $5.54 billion.
First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) plunged over 13% to $131.90 after it posted late Wednesday third-quarter net income of $153.3 million, or $1.79 a share, up from $99.3 million, or $1.20 a share, a year ago. Revenue for the three months ended Sept. 26 rose 38% to $480.9 million from $348.7 million a year ago. Analysts surveyed by FactSet Research had predicted the Tempe, Ariz.-based solar panels maker would post earnings of $1.71 a share on $524 million in revenue.
