Tropical Storm Ida Forms in Caribbean, Expected to Hit Nicaragua

Tropical Storm Ida, the ninth storm of the hurricane season, has formed in the Caribbean just south of Nicaragua. Ida is expected to cross Nicaragua and Honduras within the next two days, weakening over land and strengthening as it emerges back over the Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center places Ida at the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula by Monday. The storm is expected to make it into the Gulf of Mexico, though it is still unclear if it will affect Florida.

Ida is currently producing heavy rains and 57 mph winds.
