Hurricane Ida Heads Towards Gulf Coast

Hurricane Ida continued a path towards the U.S. Gulf Coast Monday. The National Hurricane Center said Ida remained a Category 1 hurricane as it continued to weaken. The storm is expected to pick up speed as it heads towards land Monday night.

A Hurricane warning has been issued for a 200-mile stretch from Pascagoula, Mississippi to Apalachicola, Florida. The entire Florida panhandle is under tropical storm warning.

The Hurricane Center also warned Ida carries “large and destructive waves.”

Ida already battered Nicaragua, Honduras and surrounding areas last week.
