Arrayit Corporation (OTC: ARYC), a developer, manufacturer and marketer of proprietary life science technologies and consumables for disease prevention, treatment and cure, announces that its Arrayit Protein Microarray Technology is being used by researchers at the Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI) in Seattle, USA to empower complete influenza virus testing for condition commonly known as “flu”.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have tested over 300,000 flu virus specimens during the past year to provide the antigenic content for the Arrayit protein microarray test. Researchers at IDRI are using ARYC’s technology in order to make flu testing more accurate and complete. Researchers are also looking to develop flu vaccines to prevent infection.
The flu test includes 1,296 proprietary biomarkers that are decoded using fluorescence detection, high speed scanning and advanced bioinformatics. A single microarray substrate from Arrayit yields 15,000 data points in approximately 10 minutes. ARYC’s test, which has been manufactured for IDRI, is the world’s only flu test vaccine that detects influenza antibodies produced by infection and vaccination. The technology has very broad applications in combating flu and other contagious conditions.
