Hurricane Humberto and its 85 mph winds made landfall near High Island, Texas early this morning and has made its way through the southeast portion of the state dropping several inches of rain and causing fears of flooding.
Moving northeast Hurricane Humberto now takes aim at the coastal towns of southwest Louisiana, still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita two years ago.
Listed as a Category 1 hurricane, Humberto is expected to dump up to 10 inches of rain in some areas before weakening and passing through Mississippi and Arkansas later today.
Humberto became the named storm to hit the U.S. Gulf Coast since 2005 when Katrina and Rita ravaged the area and claimed more than 1,800 lives.
