Floods in Mexican state of Tabasco have left 20,000 people trapped Monday on their rooftops. The Tabasco capital of Villahermosa is still completely under water after last week's flood.
Many are comparing this disaster to the that of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in August 2005.
Nearly a week of floods has 80 percent of Tabasco is under water and have destroyed or damaged the homes of half a million people.
Thus far, the death toll is at 10.
Since rivers first began to burst their banks Oct. 28, at least half a million people have been affected by lost power and cut-off roads.
Four bridges and 180 miles of roads were washed out in neighboring state of Chiapas.
President Felipe Calderon visited the city Sunday and assured the government would help victims get back on their feet with three months of free electricity and tax exemptions. He also vowed to crackdown on looting.
