5.9 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Chile

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake rattled Chile Friday. The quake struck about 41 miles south of Concepcion, the same area as February’s 8.8 earthquake that triggered a tsunami, killed hundreds and caused billions of dollars of damage.

"I have no reports of damage to infrastructure or (injuries) to people," Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter said. "I hope this is the last of the aftershocks that seismologists warned might come after the February 27 quake."
