Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK.A) posted a 17.9% loss this quarter, compared to last year's fourth quarter. The announcement was made Friday.
Berkshire Hathaway reported fourth quarter net earnings of $2.947 billion, compared to $3.583 billion in the same quarter of last year. Net earnings per Class A equivalent share for the quarter was $1.904 billion, compared to $2.323 billion in the prior year quarter.
Operating earnings for the quarter was $ 2.350 billion, compared to $2.868 billion in the year ago quarter. Quarterly operating earnings per Class A equivalent share was $1.518 billion, compared to $1.859 billion in the comparable quarter of last year.
The shares for Berkshire Hathaway Class A closed Friday dropping $140,000.00 per share, a decrease of $250 (0.18%). Their Class B (NYSE: BRK.B) closed at $4,674.50, up $14.50 (0.31%).
