maniaTV Adds Strategic Partners, $9.5 million in series C

Los Angeles- maniaTV, most widely known for web television shows Dave Navarro's Spread Entertainment and Tom Green Live, today announced it has successfully raised a third round of strategic investment. The funding, which totaled $9.5 million in the form of cash, credit, and debt, was led by DAG Ventures and Comerica Bank. maniaTV was ranked 7th in the web video category in January of '08 and attracted more than 85 million visits to its website in 2007, up from about 34 million in 2006. Revenues are generated by original branded content which maniaTV has produced for over 50 of Ad Age's top 100.

"In less than four years, maniaTV has been able to produce 30,000 hours of original content for roughly the same amount of money the major networks spent on a couple of pilots last season" said maniaTV CEO Peter Hoskins. "More importantly, during that time we have discovered a viable business model that delivers entertainment to an audience and consistently unique opportunities to advertisers. It's clear the economics of television are changing and we are very excited to add DAG and Comerica as partners that will clearly accelerate our growth".

The series C is an exclamation point to a series of positive changes for maniaTV since July 2007, when Peter Hoskins took over as chief executive of the company. It was at that point that the company made the decision to discontinue user generated content to focus on professionally produced, high quality programming. maniaTV has since moved corporate headquarters from Denver to a 13,000 square foot production studio in Los Angeles, added veteran Hollywood talent to it's staff, signed partnerships with industry leaders such as National Lampoon and Michael Eisner’s Tornante, and inked distribution deals with major portals and audience aggregators.

The financing effort was lead by Mr. Hoskins and maniaTV board members including Bob Kagle of Benchmark Capitol, Steve Halstedt of Centennial Ventures, Carat CEO David Verklin, and Mark Yi of Intel.
