Deadly Flooding Claims at least Nine Lives as Central U.S. Continues to Get Pounded

The severe weather that grounded flights into and out of Dallas-Fort Worth Airport on Tuesday continued to batter the central region of the United States on Wednesday and has led to at least nine deaths.

Missouri has been hit hard as nearly a foot of rain has fallen and four people have died as a result of heavy flooding. Residents have been forced to flee their homes with little more than what was on their back as water levels continued to rise.

While Texas is drying out from the barrage rescue workers continue to search for a 14-year-old boy who was swept away while he was playing in a creek with a friend. Reports have said the boy was washed down a drainage pipe but searchers have been unable to locate him.

Arkansas wasn’t spared and two people have been listed as missing after flash floods carried cars and debris through streets and leaving several residents stranded in their homes.

Indiana and Ohio also reported heavy flooding as did Kentucky where the heavy rains are believed to be responsible for a deadly crash on Interstate 65 that claimed the lives of five people.

The rain is expected to continue moving into the northeast on Wednesday.
