Three tornados ripped through Virginia Monday and left at least 200 injured and 140 homes destroyed in Suffolk.
Another tornado hit Colonial Heights and injured 18 people. The third damaged many homes in Lawrenceville. Houses and buildings were left without roofs and power lines were torn down.
“We have had some injuries. Most of them are minor, so in many ways we are blessed,” said Suffolk Mayor Linda Johnson.
Cleanup in the damaged areas was to begin Tuesday.
