Myanmar Cyclone Leaves Nearly 4,000 Dead, Thousands Homeless

The cyclone that ripped through Myanmar over the weekend has left nearly 4,000 people dead and 3,000 missing. The death toll is expected to rise to as many as 10,000 people.

A state of emergency were declared after cyclone Nargis blew off the Bay of Bengal Friday afternoon. The 10 hour storm left much of the area flooded and damaged. Boats were laying on their sides in the Yangon Harbor, roofs were torn off homes, and trees were uprooted.

 

Myanmar is still without electricity and phone connections. Medical supplies, shelters and food is being transported to the area.
