A 6.1 earthquake shook Iceland Thursday leaving roads and homes damaged. Officials said an unknown number of people suffered injuries.
The epicenter of the quake was near the town of Selfoss, 30 miles southeast of the nation’s capital, Reykjavik. Residents in the area were advised to leave their homes in case of aftershocks.
Iceland’s last major earthquake hit in June 2002 and damaged dozens of homes. No one was injured.
