Private practice professionals express concerns about financial planners

Today’s society tends to complicate financial planning due to misinformation and myths that cause anxiety about money.  For this reason, private practice owners express concerns when it comes to relying on a financial planner.

We all know someone who does some kind of financial planning.  According to P. Christopher Music, author of What Every Private Practice Physical Therapist Needs to Know About His or Her Financial Future, your “financial planner” could be someone who is involved in the life insurance business or the investment business, dad’s friend, or the do-it-yourselfers. Music says that financial planning is a very specific activity and unfortunately most people that call themselves financial planners may not fully understand the concept.

A recent independent survey revealed how private practice physical therapists feel about financial planners and some of the concerns they have when it comes to working with one.

The statistics showed that 40 percent were ambivalent…expressing feelings that certain financial planners were knowledgeable and qualified while others were not.

26 percent of private practice owners felt if the financial planner is trustworthy they can be really helpful however, it is important to make sure they possess the qualifications to provide sound financial advice.

P. Christopher Music has been saying for some time that private practice professionals are somewhat wary of financial planners.  Music also points out in his eBook that financial planner can help private practice physical therapists invest the money that they provide however, they have fallen short in being able to assist with income planning for a private practice that will be used to secure investments and assets.  Music says that helping physical therapist professionals with strategies for income planning that can be diversified into investments to provide future financial security is a must for a prosperous practice.
