“We are pleased to offer Napster users the opportunity to enjoy our catalog of classic and contemporary Disney music,” Matt Fitz-Henry, director of new media for Walt Disney Records stated in a press release. “It gives fans the opportunity to experience their favorite musical moments from films and television in an entirely new way.”
These “fans” include thousands of kids caught up in the digital music storm. Napster’s “Best of Disney” station offers a library of music, including popular Disney artists such as Hannah Montana, High School Musical and the new Camp Rock soundtrack featuring the popular Jonas Brothers.
“Disney is synonymous with world-class family programming,” Matthew Adell, Napster’s vice president of music services stated. “We are proud to partner with Disney as part of our ongoing effort to provide each member of the family access to the artists and music they love.”
The companies are targeting “tweens” and families through Disney tracks and playlists. Napster recently launched an MP3 store that offers fans the world’s largest MP3 catalog with more than six million tracks.
“This announcement gives us an opportunity to show consumers that a Napster subscription is a great value for families,” Napster CEO Chris Gorog stated. “We think Napster offers the best discovery and listening experience for everyone who loves music, and that includes kids.”
