Danielle to Become Major Hurricane by Wednesday

Hurricane Danielle is expected to become a major hurricane by Wednesday morning. Danielle upgraded to a Category 2 storm Tuesday as it churned out over the Atlantic about 1,110 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Danielle has maximum sustained winds near 100 mph and is moving west at 20 mph.

The National Hurricane Center said Danielle is currently heading towards Bermuda, but is not expected to hit the island. The storm is forecast to turn to the northwest by Wednesday.

Danielle is the second hurricane of the Atlantic season. The first, Hurricane Alex, formed in late June and struck northeastern Mexico.
