Tropical Storm Dolly Likely to Become Hurricane, Targeting Texas Coast

Tropical Storm Dolly is gathering strength as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico and forecasters are predicting the storm could develop into a Category 1 Hurricane by Tuesday as it approaches the Texas coast.

On Monday Dolly was about 60 miles north-northeast of Progreso, Mexico moving west-northwest at 18 mph. That path led to a hurricane watch being issued for Brownsville to Port O’Connor. A tropical storm watch was also announced for areas extending north of Port O’Connor to San Luis Pass.

The National Hurricane Center has said Tropical Storm Dolly could hit Texas by Wednesday
