Hurricane Dolly Elevated to Category 2, Large-Scale Flooding Expected in Texas

What was Tropical Storm Dolly just one day ago has evolved into Hurricane Dolly and the Gulf Coast of Texas is bracing for a Category 2 storm to hit by midday on Wednesday.

Residents of Brownsville north to Corpus Christi were under a hurricane warning while Mexico had established a hurricane warning from Rio San Fernando north to the border of Texas.

The strong winds produced by Hurricane Dolly have spawned twister reports as well as several counties are under tornado watches as well.

Officials now fear the force of Hurricane Dolly could cause massive flooding throughout the region as levees would not be able to contain the levels of rain being predicted. Forecasters have said between 15 to 20 inches of rain could fall as the storm passes through.
