Geron Corporation (Nasdaq: GERN) $5.21. Today announced that the company has entered into a collaboration with University Campus Suffolk (UCS) in the U.K. to develop human embryonic stem cell-derived chondrocytes for the treatment of cartilage damage and joint disease.
The development program will be led by Professor Brendon Noble, recently appointed to UCS as Head of the School of Health, Science and Social Care. Professor Noble was previously at the University of Edinburgh. The project will be based within the new biotechnology unit at UCS, which has been supported by Suffolk County Council and the East of England Development Agency. The program will be jointly funded by Geron and UCS. UCS will provide facilities and equipment for the project. Geron will fund the direct costs of the development work at UCS.
What They Do: Geron is developing first-in-class biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of cancer and chronic degenerative diseases, including spinal cord injury, heart failure and diabetes.
IMAX Corporation (Nasdaq: IMAX) $14.73. Today announced along with ODEON & UCI Cinemas Group, Europe's largest exhibitor, an agreement to install four IMAX digital theatre systems in the United Kingdom, with each of them expected to open for the IMAX release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 on November 19th. The deal brings the total number of IMAX theatres operated by ODEON to eleven. Under the terms of the agreement, IMAX's digital projection system will be installed in ODEON locations in Glasgow, Norwich, Kingston and Uxbridge. The deal was signed amid the growing success and popularity of ODEON's other IMAX locations in Manchester, Wimbledon, Greenwich, Gateshead, Cardiff, Liverpool and Southampton. The three IMAX ODEON theatres open since January -- Greenwich, Manchester and Wimbledon -- have generated a per screen average of more than $1.5 million in box office year-to-date.
ODEON is the largest operator of IMAX theatres in the United Kingdom, and with this deal, becomes the largest operator of IMAX theatres in Western Europe. IMAX's announced number of theatre system signings year-to-date has increased to 134 worldwide, which compares to 35 system signings in all of 2009.

Top Image Systems (Nasdaq: TISA) $0.82. Today announced that its eFLOW platform has been chosen by a leading global BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) provider. The project is valued at over $900,000. The Chilean BPO required a renewal to their existing IDR (Intelligent Document Recognition) system which would be capable of processing massive document quantities, whilst maintaining the highest level of accuracy. A number of vendors were invited to demonstrate their products, and after an in-depth evaluation process Top Image Systems' (TIS) eFLOW was shown as the strongest solution.
