Tropical Storm Karl Hits Mexico

Tropical Storm Karl made landfall Wednesday morning over Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The National Hurricane Center predicts Karl will produce 3 to 5 inches of rain over the Peninsula, Belize and northern Guatemala. A tropical storm warning is in effect from Ciudad del Carmen to Celestun.

As of 11 a.m. Karl had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph. The storm is expected to move into the mainland as early as Friday.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Igor and Hurricane Julie are churning in the Atlantic, but don’t pose an immediate threat to land. "Two major hurricanes are occurring simultaneously in the Atlantic Ocean for the first time since 1999. Hurricanes Igor and Julia are both category four hurricanes," the Weather Channel said.
