We would like to highlight Composite Technology Corp. (OTCBB: CPTC). The company, based in Irvine, California, USA, develops, manufactures and sells innovative high performance electrical transmission and renewable energy generation wind turbines through its subsidiaries.

In the company’s recent news,

Composite Technology Corp. (OTCBB: CPTC) announced DeWind secured a $6 million sales agreement with Willmar Municipal Utilities (WMU) in Willmar, Minn. WMU will receive the two D8.2 2-megawatt wind turbines, which it purchased following a long evaluation process and a slew of city approvals, in May 2009.

With wind turbine use on the rise, Minnesota is getting in on the action. According to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), Minnesota falls only second to Texas and California in regards to the amount of installed wind generation. The state of Minnesota had more than 1,299 megawatts of installed capacity, as of the end of 2007.

Marv Sepe, president of DeWind and COO of CTC, said the company hopes Minnesota’s steps toward renewable energy solutions will lead other regions to do the same. “We are very pleased to place additional turbines in Minnesota and we are very happy to serve the needs of the Willmar Municipal Utilities. This order can serve as a model for other municipal and regional utilities to take advantage of the abundant wind resources of Minnesota and the unique features of the D 8.2 turbine,” Sepe stated in the press release.

For more than 115 years, WMU has provided electricity, water and heating for Willmar’s 19,000 citizens, which are expected to benefit from the wind turbines. “This contract to provide DeWind turbines will provide clean, renewable energy to the citizens of Willmar. It is another example of WMU proactively investing in green generation that will help stabilize costs and reduce our environmental impact in the future,” stated Bruce Gomm, general manager of WMU stated.
