Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) slid 0.39% to $83.51 after the oil giant said it expects third-quarter earnings will come in below its second-quarter results. The latest results are due Oct. 29.
Analysts currently expect third-quarter earnings of $2.30 a share, down from $2.70 a share in the second quarter but up from $1.72 a share Chevron posted in the third quarter of 2009.
Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA) jumped 1.52% to $13.40. Last week, the stock was upgraded to overweight from neutral by analysts by J.P. Morgan early Friday, a day after Alcoa reported better-than-expected third-quarter financial results and raised its demand forecast.
Alcoa Inc. is engaged in the production and management of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum, and alumina combined.
Century Aluminum Company (NASDAQ:CENX) added 1.49% to $14.62. The company will report third quarter 2010 earnings on Tuesday, October 26th after the close of market trading.
The 52-week range of the stock is $8.15-$18.77. At current market price, the market capitalization of the company stands at $1.36 billion.
ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) gained 0.55% to $59.94. Last week, the company announced that the Board has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.55 per share, payable December 1, 2010, to stockholders of record at the close of business on October 29, 2010.
