US President Barack Obama talked about America's competitiveness and job creations during a recent meeting with Steve Jobs, the chief executive officer of Apple Inc., in California.
Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, said that the two men met at San Francisco's Westin Hotel on Thursday.
"They discussed American competitiveness and education, especially reforms such as the president's Race to the Top initiative", said a statement from Gibbs. "They then talked about energy independence and ways to increase job creation."
Gibbs had earlier told journalists that the session with the Apple CEO was “a meeting the president was interested in having” so that they can talk about innovation and the US economy.
It is said that the last time the two met was in 2008.
Jobs is one of the biggest contributors to Democratic campaigns, having donated 50,000 dollars to the Democratic National Committee in the year 2000 and 26,7000 dollars to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in the year 2006, a report by Bloomberg said, citing the records of Federal Election Commission.
The president was on a visit to Washington state earlier on Thursday to hold a campaign rally for Democratic Senator Patty Murray.
Obama is also due to attend a fund raising event for local campaigner Atherton, Calif., as well as a 30,000 dollars per plate charity dinner later Thursday at the Palo Alto residence of Marissa Mayer, the Google executive.
