Flooding in India’s Eastern State of Orissa Kills at least 17

Massive flooding caused by a monsoon has killed at least 17 people in India’s eastern state of Orissa while more than 2.4 million residents in the state have been affected.

Considered the worst flooding in half a century, more than 1,800 villages have been inundated by the floods with 200,000 people have been evacuated to relief camps.

Roads have been washed away making it difficult for rescue workers to reach some of the hardest hit areas and meteorologists have predicted more rain to fall over the next two days.
