U.S. President George Bush Vows to Steady Markets, Promises “We'll Come Through This Together”

U.S. President George Bush spoke briefly Friday morning, attempting to reassure the public that the current economic slide that has gripped not only the U.S. economy but the world markets as well.

Bush promised the American people that the government was using all of its resources to “aggressively” restore stability following several weeks of disastrous results in the markets. The downturn, Bush said, was being caused by “uncertainty and fear” and a sense of calm was needed.

Despite a $700 billion rescue plan designed to stimulate security within the markets Wall Street has continued to tumble yet Bush promised, “We're in this together and we'll come through this together.”
