SmallCapReview To Add Kunekt Corporation (KNKT)

  • KNKT signed definitive agreements to acquire AMS-INT ASIA LTD. ("AMS"), Hong Kong, as a major step in its business plan to design, build and market mobile devices in developed and developing countries, initially in China and India. Under the terms of the agreements, on closing, Kunekt will have 100% of the interest in the control and management of Guangzhou Xingwei Communications Technology Ltd. Inc. ("Xingwei"), Guangzhou, China, a mobile phone design company, and Beijing Yiyueqiji Science and Technology Development Ltd. Inc. ("Yiyueqiji"), Beijing, China, an Android smartphone design company. Xingwei has been in operation since 2004 and has 42 employees. Yiyueqiji has been in operation since 2009 and has 18 employees.

  • Xingwei generated revenue in excess of RMB 33 million ($5 million USD) (unaudited). Xingwei's CEO and founder is Chengwu Zhu, who previously worked for telecom giant Huawei and, following the acquisition by Kunekt, will be the Vice President of Engineering and Operations of Kunekt.

  • KNKT has located and now expects to execute the lease for its new Shenzhen sales office on or about February 11, 2011, after the Chinese New Year holiday season has come to a close. The office is approximately 2,600 square feet and is located in the Shenzhen High-Tech Industrial Park ("SHIP"), where electronic communication products account for 98% of SHIP's total output. "We plan to have a team of experienced mobile device salespeople in the office by late February, expanding that team to about 10 persons through April of this year," said Bruk.

  • Announced that it has filed three trademark applications with the United States Trademark and Patent Office. Kunekt has applied for trademarks for: KRUZE, a line of smartphones; KROME, a line of mobile phones; and KRUSH, a line of handheld wireless devices.

  • Announced that it has named two telecom executives to its Business Advisory Board. Yabin Xing, founder and CEO of iFunmobile Inc., a Toronto-based company focusing on the development and delivery of mobile applications, mobile content and rich media. Xing is also the president of Telesavvy, Inc., a Toronto-based consulting firm, which has completed more than $70 million in projects for its clients in the past two years. He has also held several senior roles in ZTE Corporation, China's largest listed telecom company providing equipment and networking solutions in more than 140 countries and servicing 59 of the world's top 100 telecom operators, including serving as the president and CEO of ZTE Canada, Inc., the director of International Markets, the managing director of ZTE Thailand as well as assistant vice president in the Asia Pacific Region.

  • Also announced to the Advisory Board is Matt Li, managing director of AMS-INT ASIA, Hong Kong. Li is an entrepreneur with more than twenty years of academic and engineering experience in the network, telecom and wireless industries. Li has held various engineering and management positions with startups and Fortune 500 companies, such as Cisco Systems; UB Video; Motorola; Abatis Systems; and ANV Systems. In the past eight years, he has worked with three early stage companies, either as a co-founder or an early stage employee, through their successful capital exits. Upon the closing of Kunekt's acquisition of AMS, which previously announced that it is acquiring 100% interests in the management and control of two Chinese mobile phone companies, Li will join the company as co-CEO, co-chairman and president of Kunekt.
