The chairman of a window installation company in Florida files for personal bankruptcy

The chairman of Windowizards, a window and door installation company, has filed for bankruptcy in Florida.

Harvey Goodman, whose company has been struggling to fulfill customer orders since closing two months ago, has filed Chapter 7 personal bankruptcy on Friday. According to Goodman, he has roughly $1.1 million in assets (primarily from his property in Palm Beach County) and has incurred nearly $5.8 million in debt.

Michael Bannon, director of Bucks County Consumer Protection, said that he was unsure how Goodman’s bankruptcy filing will affect consumers that are still waiting on windows they ordered but haven’t yet received.

“We’re looking into it right now,” he said. “It may not make a difference. The repair work is still going on. They’re doing installations today.”

According to the bankruptcy report, Goodman claims that he owes $3.1 million to Windowizards, nearly $375,000 to American Express for a Windowizards-related account and nearly $160,000 for radio advertising that was done to help the business. The filing also shows a $1 million loan from a business called the Mae Co. in Ohio. In addition, Goodman also owes over $170,000 in federal income taxes from 2009 and 2010.

The Windowizards property on Bristol Pike and two New Jersey properties were pledged as collateral.
