SmallCapNetwork.com Initiates Coverage of InterDigital Inc. (NASDAQ: IDCC) and Briggs & Stratton Corp. (NYSE: BGG)
Small company research and analysis website SmallCapNetwork.com issues buy ratings for both InterDigital and Briggs & Stratton.
While most large companies are still dealing with the economic fallout of a recession, several smaller companies have continued to thrive, or have started to recover from the economic meltdown. SmallCapNetwork.com has uncovered what could be two of the more investment-worthy companies from within the small cap segment of the equity market.
Small Cap Network (www.smallcapnetwork.com) has initiated investment research coverage of InterDigital Inc. (NASDAQ: IDCC) and Briggs & Stratton Corp. (NYSE: BGG). Both stocks are rated as ‘buys’ by the Small Cap Network analytical staff, based on forward-looking company prospects and attractive fundamental valuations.
The initial report for both companies can be accessed at http://www.smallcapnetwork.com/Coverage-Initiated-InterDigital-IDCC-and-Briggs-Stratton-BGG/af/archive/20090121-1/.
Cell phone technology developer InterDigital Inc. has generated three consecutive quarterly earnings increases in an environment that’s been unfriendly to almost all other companies. Moreover, forecasters expect 2009 earnings to nearly triple over 2008’s actual results. Though that may seem to be an aggressive outlook, a recent licensing agreement reached with Samsung could easily boost the company’s bottom line to those levels. Licensing and royalty fees are generally high-margin revenue, as little to no further product development is needed by that point.
The attraction to the company and the reason for InterDigital’s ‘buy’ rating is primarily based on the stock’s low forward-looking valuation. The market does not appear to have adequately factored in the company’s near-term and long-term growth prospects.

Small engine manufacturer Briggs & Stratton Corp. appears to be in the midst of a turn-around after two consecutive disappointing years. After barely remaining in the black in fiscal 2006, and not doing considerably better in 2007, fiscal 2008 (ending in June of 2009) is anticipated to be much stronger. Per-share earnings estimates for 2009 are nearly double those of 2008, and earnings are expected to grow by more than 30% in 2010.
Though not the only reason for a better future, Briggs & Stratton recently unveiled a new standby generator to be marketed under the General Electric (NYSE: GE) name. The new design boasts higher energy efficiency.
