President Barack Obama Places VP Joe Biden in Charge of Overseeing Implementation of Stimulus Plan

President Barack Obama has turned to Vice President Joe Biden to oversee the implementation of the recently passed $787 billion stimulus plan.

Speaking at the National Governors Association in Washington Obama stated, “The fact that I'm asking my vice president to personally lead this effort shows how important it is for our country and future to get this right.”

As part of his new role Biden will now meet regularly with key Cabinet members, governors and mayors to ensure the economic stimulus plan operates in an “efficient and effective” manner. On Wednesday the first portion of that stimulus package, $15 billion, will be available for health care programs outlines in the plan.

While Biden will oversee the implementation of the economic stimulus package Obama appointed Earl Devaney, currently the inspector general of the Interior Department, to oversee how the money is spent.
