“Quanta Services Inc. (PWR) shares climbed 1.64% to $18.01 at today’s opening bell. Quanta, a contracting services company, offers various network solutions to the electric power, gas, telecommunications, cable television and specialty services industries, as well as to the commercial, industrial and governmental entities primarily in the United States and Canada. … Due to growing demand in areas such as transmission infrastructure and renewable energy, the company recently said its fourth-quarter profit climbed 40%. Quanta said quarterly earnings increased to $47.1 million, or 24 cents per share, compared with $33.6 million, or 18 cents per share, during the same period last year. In a survey by Thomson Reuters, analysts forecast a profit of 19 cents per share. The company's revenue climbed 4.8% to $921.5 million from $879 million. Analysts forecast revenue of $913.5 million.”

“SunPower Corp. (SPWRA) shares gained 3.39% in today’s early trading, moving to $24.78. SunPower engages in the design, manufacture and marketing of solar electric power technologies. … The company recently announced renewable energy veteran Jean M. Wilson has joined SunPower as its vice president and general manager of utilities and power plants. Wilson most recently served as senior vice president, renewable energy at PPM Energy (now Iberdrola Renewables). She earned a master's degree in business administration from Stanford University and a bachelor's of science degree in finance from the University of Southern California.”
