Beacon Equity Research announces the release of Trade Alerts covering footwear/apparel stocks: Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE), Timberland Co. (NYSE: TBL), Coach Inc. (NYSE: COH), Deckers Outdoor Corp. (Nasdaq: DECK), CROCS Inc. (Nasdaq: CROX) and Under Armour Inc. (NYSE: UA).
In the Trade Alert, the author highlights Nike’s lower third-quarter net profit:
“Nike Inc. (NKE) shares slipped .70% by noon today, trading at $45.55. Nike designs, develops and markets footwear, apparel, equipment and accessory products worldwide. It offers various categories of shoes, including running, training, basketball, soccer, sport-inspired urban shoes and children's shoes. … The company recently reported its net profit in fiscal third quarter ended February 28 was $243.8 million, or 50 cents per share, down from $463.8 million, or 92 cents per share, a year earlier. However, excluding a impairment charge of 49 cents a share from the recently acquired Umbro soccer brand, Nike earned 99 cents per share. Analysts, on average, had been expecting earnings of 79 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates. … Nike said it could be facing tougher times ahead as its so-called futures orders for apparel and shoes declined 10%. It warned of shrinking worldwide demand, especially in economically hard-hit Europe, but executives said they hoped to see revenue growth next year, in the second half of its fiscal 2010.”
The Trade Alert author also featured the opening of Timberland’s new Broadway store with an original photography exhibit:
“Timberland Co. (TBL) shares lost 3.61%, trading at $11.48 by noon. Timberland engages in the design, development, engineering, marketing and distribution of footwear, apparel and accessories products for men, women and children. … In celebration of the opening of its new 474 Broadway store, in the history-rich SoHo district, the company recently announced an original photography exhibit, entitled Nature of a City, curated by Brooklyn publisher powerHouse Books. The collection of photographs, which will debut March 27, reflects the style, spirit and authenticity shared by Timberland and New York City's five thriving boroughs. The exhibit features images from the powerHouse archives that capture the energy and vitality of a city that - like Timberland - is constantly evolving, creating and defying trends..”
