OriginOil, a development stage company, focuses on developing a technology to transform algae into an alternative to petroleum. The Los Angeles-based company today announced its single-step process to extract oil from algae. The company said it is already making plans to commercialize the patent-pending process for use by others in the industry. … According to the company, the algae industry is growing in popularity, though the technology to efficiently harvest the algae can be difficult. Testing shows the single-step process to be simple though more efficient than other systems currently used.”

“Hasbro Inc. (HAS) shares slipped 1.76% this morning, moving to $27.42. Hasbro engages in the design, manufacture and marketing of games and toys. The company principally provides children's and family leisure time and entertainment products and services. … Hasbro, one of the largest toy makers in the world, second only to the toy giant Mattel, is scheduled to report its first-quarter earnings before the market open today, with a conference call scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET. … Wedbush Morgan's Chris White expects Hasbro to report results in line or slightly below consensus estimates. White noted that a "lone bright spot" in the otherwise soft retail environment was in the boys' category, particularly film-oriented toys.”
