Dr Pepper Snapple Group (NYSE: DPS) $21.26. Today announced first quarter 2009 earnings of $0.52 per share compared to earnings of $0.38 per share in the prior year period. Excluding net gains related to the Hansen contract termination settlement and the sale of certain distribution rights in the current year period as well as restructuring charges in the prior year period, the company earned $0.37 per share compared to $0.40 per share in 2008.

thinkorswim Group (Nasdaq: SWIM) $9.87. Today announced record performance metrics for April 2009. The company delivered monthly records for new funded accounts, overall total accounts, record client assets and record total monthly option volume, as well as daily option volume exceeding 1 million contracts per day on average.

American Superconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: AMSC) $25.29. Today  announced that it has received an order worth more than $10 million from ACCIONA Energy, a division of ACCIONA SA (MC: ANA) and a world leader in renewable power, for its new Dynamic VAR Ride Through (D-VAR RT) solution. Building on AMSC’s highly successful D-VAR platform, which provides critical dynamic reactive compensation required to connect many wind farms around the world to the power grid, the company’s D-VAR RT product enables individual wind turbines to continue operating smoothly by “riding through” voltage disturbances on power grids that might otherwise interrupt their operation. The D-VAR RT product meets stringent grid interconnection requirements, including Spain’s new Procedimiento de Operación 12.3 requirement for both existing and new wind turbines.

 

What They Do: AMSC offers an array of proprietary technologies and solutions spanning the electric power infrastructure – from generation to delivery to end use. The company is a leader in alternative energy, providing proven, megawatt-scale wind turbine designs and electrical control systems.

 

POZEN Inc. (Nasdaq: POZN) $7.42. Today announced that AstraZeneca has made the decision to have POZEN file the New Drug Application (NDA) for PN 400 with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). POZEN continues to target a mid-2009 NDA filing and expects to receive a milestone payment of $10 million when the NDA is formally accepted for submission by the FDA.

 

The license agreement executed with AstraZeneca in August 2006 established a Phase III clinical development program for PN 400, an investigational compound, that combines the pain reliever naproxen (an NSAID) with esomeprazole magnesium, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), to support a potential indication for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis in patients who are at risk of developing gastric ulcers.
