Augen Gold Corp. (TSXV: GLD) on 9/20/11, was pleased to provide an update on its drilling campaign within the North Shore Area, several kilometres northeast of the historical Jerome Gold Mine. This area is centrally located within Augen Gold's 45-kilometre-long South Swayze Property, which is approximately halfway between the mining centers of Sudbury and Timmins in Ontario. In the past three months, Augen Gold completed 26 drill holes for 6,900 metres and extended another 8 holes for 1,395 metres in the North Shore Area. Most holes and extensions targeted the promising North Shore Trend, and available assays show numerous significant gold intersections, most of which establish continuity within two mineralized zones that had returned several high-grade intersections including 66.80 g/t Au over 1.50 metres, 24.00 g/t Au over 1.50 metres and 23.20 g/t Au over 1.12 metres, as reported earlier in the year. Results from an additional 12 holes and 2,999.50 metres of drilling remain pending from the North Shore Area. Drilling continues to evaluate the potential of this area.
The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) and Citigroup Inc. according to Bloomberg on 9/20/11, are planning to market commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) worth $1.7 billion, after the deal was scrapped in July. The transaction was valued at $1.5 billion in July. The primary reason for pulling the planned deal of bonds issue in July was due to Standard & Poor’s (S&P) halt over rating the bonds. S&P refrained from rating the transaction as it decided to reconsider the criteria for assessing risks associated with such bonds offering. The agency wanted to reassess the banks’ joint offering with multiple borrowers. Therefore, Goldman and Citi closed the deal for the time being.
Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S) on 9/20/11 has introduced Google Wallet, a mobile payment service on its Samsung Nexus S 4G smartphones. Notably, Sprint is first U.S. carrier to deploy this application. Users can avail of this payment option by downloading the latest version of the Android operating system. Google Wallet remains one of the latest innovations in e-commerce that enables users to make secure and faster payments. The service virtually transforms phones into wallets, allowing storage of credit cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards as well as a variety of other plastic money by accessing any PayPass-enabled terminal. It operates on a specific personal identification number (PIN) that ensures total security and a chip known as Secure Element that stores encrypted information.
Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) for the second time in a month, announced plans yesterday 9/20/11, to build a large-scale wind farm in Texas. Duke Energy Renewables, a commercial business unit of Duke Energy, will build, own and operate the 202-megawatt (MW) Los Vientos II Windpower Project and sell the electricity and renewable energy credits it generates to Austin Energy through a 25-year agreement. "Purchasing zero-emission electricity from Duke Energy's Los Vientos II Windpower Project represents yet another example of Austin Energy's commitment to investing in affordable renewable power," said Duke Energy Renewables President Greg Wolf.
