The Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack said Monday that it its first-quarter earnings doubled, despite a decline in sales.
Net income at Pep Boys (NYSE:PBY) was $10.9 million, or 21 cents a share, compared to $4.7 million, or 9 cents, a year earlier.
For the three months ended May 2, sales at the automotive aftermarket service-and-retail chain totaled $496.5 million, down from $498 million a year earlier. On a comparable basis, measuring the same stores as a year earlier, sales dipped by 0.3 percent.
