KV Pharmaceutical Co. said Wednesday it settled a patent infringement lawsuit from Purdue Pharma LP, the maker of OxyContin, acknowledging it had infringed on the patents supporting OxyContin.
KV Pharmaceutical said it agreed the patents behind the painkiller were valid and enforceable, and that it infringed them. Under the settlement, Purdue granted KV limited rights to sell a generic version of OxyContin in the U.S. for a limited time.
The Food and Drug Administration approved KV's generic oxycodone in 2006.
