Biotechnology company Halozyme Therapeutics Inc. said Tuesday it raised $40 million by selling 6.15 million shares of stock.
Halozyme said its net proceeds came to $38.2 million. It sold the stock at $6.50 per share, which was a discount of 13.7 percent to Monday's closing price of $7.53.
Halozyme did not say what it intends to do with the funds raised by the offering, which was announced Monday.
The company had said it would sell 5.2 million shares.
In morning trading, Halozyme stock fell $1.13, or 15 percent, to $6.40.
